How to keep my toddler occupied
My toddler goes to school for two hours five days a week. After coming back home which is around 10:30 a.m. she takes her bath, has her snacks and goes for a nap. She is usually done with her nap after about an hour. So there is a quite a gap between the time she is up from her nap till the time that she can go to the playground. I would welcome suggestions on what I can do to keep her occupied during this time as she becomes quite bored during these long afternoons.

I suggest getting crayons (the thicker variety which they can hold well), finger paints & lots of drawing paper. They can spend hours with the colors n paints. Also try to get her to help you around the house..I have realised that kids find 'what we do' more facinating than anything that they do. So ask her to bring you a book/ or keep a glass or plates back in the kitchen. They also like laying the table. You know in general any activity by which they will get a praise or a look of approval from you. Reading ofcourse is an all time solution, get pleanty of books with lots of pictures.
I read a book, cant think of the name right now, but it suggested that indulging the toddlers in activites that they enjoy the best makes life simpler for both the toddlers and parents. Like my other friends out here, I got a bunch of toys for Anaiy, legos, building blocks and what not. HE played with them but not for long. A toddler's span of attention is short anyways. I realized that my son was only getting bored with the toys. He is more of an outdoor person, I got him a basketball and a tricyle and voila...he was a happy camper. He still needs different activities so I give him sidewalk chalks, teach him shapes and colours and anything I can think of. You will probably need more than a few activities up your sleeves. If your toddler is crafty, then all the ideas that Neelum suggested sound wonderful...but if she is not then she is going to get bored. Hope this helps.
a tricycle sounds good...infact i am going to get one for Aadi on his b'day...so Zunu can try it and if she likes it (i am sure she will) you can invest in it too. Out doors for long is not possible in S'pore bcoz of the heat n the Sun..so we have to think more on in-door stuff. She can cycle in the house so it wud be fun. another solution is to increase her school timings...
